About Your Host
Diego Narvaez was born in Mexico City. He lives and works in Sooke, on Vancouver Island. Through his work, Diego reflects on the contemporary landscape while creating visual metaphors of how we, as a society, construct reality through sight and how this affects our relationship with the environment. He has painted in different surroundings and conditions, from Antarctica to Iceland, Mexico City to the West Coast of North America. Narvaez has presented solo exhibitions in important venues in Mexico. His current exhibition is at Art Sales & Rental in the Vancouver Art Gallery. Collectively, he has participated in exhibitions in the USA, Argentina, Spain, Canada and Mexico. He is now collaborating with scientists and indigenous artists to address our relationship with the land and the oceans.
