Soapstone is an excellent material for beginners to hand carve their first sculptures. This soft stone can be easily worked to create small indoor sculptures. Smooth chisel marks with a folk or steel rasp.

All soapstone is sold by the pound, with approximate weights ranging from to 1 lb to 50 lb per piece. The selection found in-store will vary in size, shape and colour, offering you a wealth of carving possibilities.

Please note: It is recommended that a dust mask or respirator should be worn when sculpting stone.
